OtoMeister was developed by Takafumi Osumi, DVM, Ph.D., DipAiCVD, at the Tokyo Animal Dermatology Center (TADeC), to help veterinarians build practical skills in video otoscopy.Ear disease is one of the most common problems in small animal practice, yet opportunities to practise otoscopic procedures outside of live patients are limited.OtoMeister was designed to fill that gap. It is used in hands-on training sessions in Japan and overseas.
OtoMeister reproduces the canine ear canal and middle ear. The tympanic membrane is made by the user, so it can be prepared fresh for each training session.
Designed for use with a video otoscope, the model allows trainees to practice: navigating the ear canal with a video otoscope preparing a tympanic membrane and replacing the middle ear component removing debris from the ear canal.
